Code of Conduct

All Football Coaches are required to follow all "Code of Conduct" and to complete the form linked here - Coaching Code of Conduct

As an East Lake Eagles Youth Football Coach, I agree to:

Put sportsmanship above winning.
Encourage overt sportsmanship and teamwork at every turn.
Emphasize that winning a game is the result of teamwork.

Be a role model by maintaining a positive outlook and encouraging demeanor.
Never touch a player when I appear angry.
Never touch a player in any private area.
Not use any abusive or foul language.
Not be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
Never smoke or use any form of tobacco while on the field of play during games, scrimmages or practices.
Report any arrests that have occurred after your background check was run

Accept the decisions of officials.
Will not criticize the officials, the opposing team, the coaches, fans or parents through language or gesture.
Never engage in an argumentative or confrontational conversation with an official or another coach.

Engage parents and ask for their help in getting kids to learn their plays, get the proper rest and nutrition, and in helping prepare the kids to play the game of football.

Never engage in an argumentative or confrontational conversation with a parent.  If the parent insists in this behavior, I will walk away and immediately notify a ELYFC Board Member.

Run well-organized practices with drills planned out, written out and timed.

  • Provide adequate water breaks during practice, taking no chances with heat exhaustion.
  • Review in depth safe blocking and tackling techniques with the head up to lessen the possibility of neck and head injuries.
  • Not utilize high speed, long distance (over 5 yards) individual contact drills.
  • Limit live scrimmaging contact 30% of available practice time per week.

Learn the strengths and weakness of his/her players in order to place them into situations where each has a maximum opportunity to achieve success.

Take no chances with health issues, and if necessary call parents or medical personnel.

Protect the health and safety of his players by insisting that all of the activities under his control be conducted for their psychological and physiological welfare, rather than the interests of adults

Be consistent, set parameters and not let my players go outside them

Follow SYFC Rules, ensuring all players play a minimum of 6 plays per game.

Will not run up scores intentionally.

Not call timeouts, absolutely will not pass or call blitzes and stay inbounds and run the clock out if we have a big lead late in a game. I will ask our quarterback to kneel to run out the last few seconds if we are close to the goal line.

Not take a defensive timeout while leading with a running clock.

Not allow non-coaching parents on the sidelines during games or practices.

Report any rules violations to the President or any Board member as soon as possible.
